Over a year ago, with the CATverse in full swing, Captain and I started lamenting the fact that, though everything we'd written was wonderful, it would never truly be ours. After all, we'd set our characters, our storylines and our ideas in the middle of a copyright universe that we could never, ever truly be a part of.
Then, a lightbulb flickered on. What was stopping us from creating our own comic book universe? Something that took all the things we loved about comics, improved upon them and chucked everything that we didn't like?
Thus, Villainy! was born.
The idea is to take the archetypes within the DC universe and turn them on their heads. The boyscout, the anti-hero, the charismatic madman. You get the idea. Where DC follows the heroes of their universe, we want to follow its villains--because as everyone knows, the villains are the most interesting part. So, we took our favorite characters, stripped them of everything but their very core philosophies and started building new personalities, histories and stories for them. Through this new universe, the Captain, Al and Techie can exist as truly original characters and, what's more, we can actually publish their stories.
With this in mind, let me introduce you to the Villainy! cast of characters.
We hope to launch the official Villany webcomic in January, 2009, so until then, keep your fingers crossed!
